Overturned 18-wheeler impacting traffic on I-20 west

An 18-wheeler overturned at the access ramp from Clay Street onto Interstate 20 heading westbound around 10:30 a.m. on Friday. As a result, the access ramp is closed and the westbound corridor of I-20 is reduced to one lane as crews work to clear the scene.
No injuries have been reported. However, traffic is backed up for several miles and motorists should anticipate delays well into Friday afternoon.
Clean up efforts at the site are expected to last several hours, due to fuel spilling over the roadway as a result of the crash.
“The gas tank was breached, but we are on a dry surface,” Fire Chief Craig Danczyk stated. “We’ll have to make adjustments before we can remove the vehicle.”
