Porter’s Chapel Academy defeated Deer Creek 6-5 on Friday night.

A sacrifice by Zach Ashley tied the game at one in the first inning and the score remained the same until the third inning.

A single by Gavin Pugh along with an RBI from Thomas Azlin in the third would give PCA the 3-1 lead while Ashley threw a few strikeouts.

After a single from Ashley in the fourth, John Wyatt Massey hit a double that brought in another run as PCA went up 4-1.

Deer Creek would score from an error in the fifth before PCA went up to bat. The Eagles responded when Taylor LaBarre got a double then Gavin White hit a line drive to bring in a run along with a walk to give PCA a 6-2 lead.

DC picked up three runs in the seventh and got back into the game but Lawson Selby used his long reach to get the last out that gave PCA the 6-5 win.

Massy and LaBarre both went 2 for 3 while Azlin, Pugh, Ashley, and Palmer all had one hit.

Ashley struck out six in the win and Chase Hearn came in late to strike out three.
