An SUV lost control and took out a utility pole before crashing into a commercial property at the 2800 block of Clay Street Tuesday night, causing officials to divert traffic headed toward downtown at Hope Street in order to clear the scene.

While the vehicle sustained a fair amount of damage and a utility pole was knocked down, there were no injuries in the crash and Entergy is not reporting any outages in the area.

Initial reports indicate that the vehicle crashed into the utility pole and then spun into the landscaping and possibly the building, though damage to the property is believed to be minimal.
