Teenager’s body recovered from Lake Caroline identified

The teenager who drowned at Lake Caroline on Monday has been identified as 19-year-old Jelani Porter.

Several agencies were part of the search efforts to recover Porter’s body. The search parties had to halt efforts on Monday due to weather conditions but were able to recover the remains on Tuesday.

With the use of sonar and imaging equipment, Porter’s body was located 30 yards offshore on Tuesday and was recovered by divers.

“Basically we’ve got a tragic accident where this young man, unfortunately, lost his life in the line of having fun,” Madison County Sheriff Randy Tucker told WLBT.

Tucker stated Porter never resurfaced after jumping off the back of a boat Monday afternoon.
