Around 11:00 p.m. Tuesday, Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to U.S. 61 near Traceway in Claiborne County to a fatal accident.

Preliminary investigation shows that a Mercury Grand Marquis was traveling southbound on U.S. 61, when the driver lost control and collided with a tree.

The driver, Marvin Williams, 36, of Lorman, Miss. and the front passenger, Jason Baker, 44, of Port Gibson, Miss. were both killed in the crash. No other occupants were in the vehicle.

Officials say that speed and alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

Please keep the families of these two men in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
