VJHS came out with a 51-38 win over WCJHS

Vicksburg Junior High School boy’s basketball team now stands with an 11-0 record after defeating Warren Central 51-38 on Monday.

Landon Burks got WC on the board first with a 3-pointer but VJHS responded with a 3-pointer from Corbin Walker along with shots from Deonta Selvy Jr, Jaylen Stewart, Jaquez Jones, and K. Thomas to go up 12-5 in the first quarter. Jones hit two 3-pointers in the second quarter and Walker nailed one while Defrance and Xavier Jackson both knocked down 3-pointers for WCJHS. The Gators were up 27-19 at halftime.

Jones took care of things for the Gators in the second half while Jaylen Stewart came away with some big shots.

Jones led with 19 points in the win and Walker finished with 13 for VJHS. Jayden Stewart put up eight points and Selvy added seven. Burks scored 16 for WC and Ja’Von Lee put up nine.
