A voucher scam is targeting winter storm victims
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is warning residents about a voucher scam which states that FEMA is giving out $800 vouchers. This claim is false.
Mississippians are being targeted by these scam artists, preying on the fact the community just underwent an extreme winter storm event.
Scam artists will often use natural disasters to target victims. Please do not send out any information to unsolicited phone calls or text messages.
MEMA will notify you if federal assistance is available. Any text messages received claiming to offer voucher assistance is a scam.
