VPD hosts Citizens on Patrol
Last updated:
The Vicksburg Police Department held their first Citizens on Patrol Academy on Tuesday where a selected few got a first hand look on how things operate within the police department.
“It’s an academy for the citizens of the community and it gives them the opportunity to see what we do on a daily basis and gives them a feel for what we do during investigations,” Police Chief Penny Jones said.
Jones along with many more members of the VPD, showed the citizens of the community on how one becomes a police officer and the time it takes to solve a crime correctly.
The Citizens on Patrol is a 10-week program that is held every Tuesday where citizens can get the full impact of the program and VPD will also use their feedback to make the necessary improvements for the second class.
