A trial date is set for May 2 for T’Kia Bevily of Claiborne County who is accused of killing her 14-month old stepdaughter Jurayah Smith.

Bevily, who appeared in court on Monday, was sentenced to life in prison without parole last year. Her conviction for the 2017 murder was overturned after it was discovered that a juror was related to Smith.

Bevily is currently out on a $1 million bond and another pre-trial hearing will be held on April 19 in Copiah County.

Smith’s father, Morris, also faces capital murder charges.
