Last updated:
Bail has been set for the Waltersville Estate murder suspect.
Judge Penny Lawson set bail at $2 million for 17-year-old Markevius Devonte Sturdivant, charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of Shemar Jashad Smith on Thursday night.
Smith was pronounced dead at the scene by Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey. He suffered from multiple gunshot wounds.
City Prosecutor Stephen McMillin requested the bail be set at $2 million due to the nature of the crime. Deputy Police Chief Troy Kimble testified that the defendant was caught on surveillance.
If bail is posted, Sturdivant will have a 5 p.m. curfew and will have to wear an ankle monitor.
