Only 34% of Mississippians have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and slightly more, 39%, have received at least one dose. Vaccine hesitancy is especially prevalent in our state, but data shows that vaccination is safe and effective.

The effectiveness of the vaccine is clearly represented on this graph, showing a sharp decline in cases as vaccine distribution ramped up in the spring. The top timeline in green shows state-wide vaccinations over time while the orange represents confirmed cases.

Warren County has lost a total of 127 lives to the virus, with 4,640 confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic.  This is up 28 cases and two deaths since Vicksburg Daily News’ last report.
