One-day free COVID-19 testing in Port Gibson on Tuesday, May 5
Last updated:
A free one-day COVID-19 coronavirus drive-through testing site will be open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, at Claiborne County Parks and Rec, 410 Market St. in Port Gibson.
Tests are free and by appointment only. Make your appointment the day before the testing by being pre-screened.
The quickest way to complete the screening is to use the C Spire Health UMMC Virtual COVID-19 Health app from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., available for Apple or Android smartphones. Those without smartphones can call 601-469-7200.
During screening, a clinician will ask a few questions to determine the person’s risk of having the virus. Those at high risk will receive a next-day appointment for drive-through testing. Those deemed not at high risk may be given instructions for self-care at home.
Tests will be completed using a nasal swab while patients remain in their vehicles. The University of Mississippi Medical Center and the Mississippi State Health Department are staffing the site.
