Red Sox pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez out for the season due to COVID-19
Boston Red Sox pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez will be out for the rest of the season to recover from a heart complication stemming from COVID-19.
The announcement came yesterday after Rodriguez confirmed he has myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle.
“That’s the most important part of your body,” Rodriguez said. “The first time I hear, I was kind of scared a little. Now that I know what it is, I’m still scared, but now I know exactly what it is. I just talk to my mom, talk to my wife, let them know what I have, and now I’ve got to take the rest.”
Rodriguez started 34 games in 2019 where he went 19-6 as a starter. He also finished with an impressive 213 strikeouts before having to stop playing.
The loss of Rodriguez is a huge blow to the Red Sox as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to hurt the sports world.
