Culkin, Bovina and Northeast Fire Departments responded to reports of the smell of smoke at Sherman Avenue Elementary School Monday afternoon.

Students and faculty were evacuated from the building at 11:55 a.m. until firefighters clear the school. There are no injuries and everyone is safe.

It is believed that the smoke smell was caused by an electrical issue, and responders have called for a thermal imaging camera to aid in determining the source of the issue.
