The Vicksburg Junior High boys basketball team won their season opener Thursday night against cross-town rival Warren Central Junior High.

The Gators had a hard time scoring in the first quarter but things picked up for both teams in the second half. By halftime, the score was 16-14, with VJHS in the lead.

Decorey Knight Jr. led the Gators with 13 points in the big 41-31 victory. Larry Reynolds and Mincer Minor had 6 points each for the Gators as well.

The Gators have a good start to their season under head coach Jerdon Hardiman who led them to the Little Six Championship last year with an 18-1 record.
