Crime rises with the heat: April & May crime report is in.
On Monday at the Board of Mayor and Alderman meeting, the Board accepted a crime statistics report for April-May, 2023.
4,148 calls were logged to the police department with 1108 crime reports in total.
The Department made 286 arrests, issued 87 warrants, 385 citations, 2 warnings, and 6 DUIs.
Furthermore according to the report there was one instance of murder in April and two murders in May which was a 100% increase from the previous report.
Two instances of forcible rape were also reported, while aggravated assualts went up 33% with 3 in April and 4 in May.
There were two instances of robbery in May (up 200%), 6 business burglaries (3 in each month), and 8 residential burglaries (6 in April, 2 in May, up by 67%).
While there were no instances of carjacking or kidnapping, there were 63 instances of domestic violence, (up 15%).
Finally there were 16 auto burglaries (up 29%), and 10 auto thefts (up 133%).
