Stolen truck stop leads to arrest of Vicksburg man

James Smith, of Vicksburg, was taken into custody after it was discovered the truck he was driving was reported stolen.

Around 7 a.m. on Friday, Vicksburg police conducted a traffic stop of Smith on Iowa Boulevard.

A check of the vehicle he was driving, a 2002 Dodge Dakota pickup, showed that it had been reported stolen from West Monroe, Louisiana.

Vicksburg Police took Smith into custody, where he is facing a charge of receiving stolen property.

Smith made his initial appearance later that day where he was bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury with a $30,000 bond by Judge Angela Carpenter.
